“But for the grace of God, there go I.” You’ve probably heard the expression often enough; you may have even said it. It’s usually said by people who are aware how little they really have to do with the good life they enjoy. You may have worked hard and accomplished much, but you had little to nothing to do with where you were born, who your parents are, your natural gifts and talents, your ability to learn, etc. And it is most often one or more of these inherited factors that impact your position, wealth, power and influence.

This is why it is so imperative that we who have been given much do much to help those who have not been as blessed. Hope Prison Ministries has a five-year plan that will transform lives, save taxes, create jobs and generate local and state revenue and taxes. It’s easy to justify not helping those in prison because, after all, they deserve it. As you consider whether or not give, please remember, “but for the grace of God…,” “they” could have been you.

  • Recruit, train and pair mentors with offenders during and after incarceration
  • Place ex-offenders in the homes of model families
  • Recruit a business advisory panel to review, approve, fund and oversee the business plans of ex-offenders

Why Should You Care?

  • More than 500,000 Texans are under some form of supervision from the TDCJ
  • The Average Cost of Housing One Offender: $16,000+
  • Nationally, recidivism estimates range from 60% and up
  • Recidivism means crime where you live to download important tax related documents and information.
